Tears of a woman

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on Him, “If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed: AND YOU SHALL KNOW THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE” (John 8:31-32). Without being aware, we all bring to the table a particular perception which is rooted in our history and culture, thus we see all things from our own understanding or preconceived reality. How do we recognize that our perception about “our truth” may not be how things really are?

PROBLEM:

We do not always realize that from birth our minds are infiltrated with a plethora of messages and information that make and shape us. We take in this information subconsciously and it becomes a part of who we are be it negative or positive depending on factors such as: our history, culture, parents, siblings, and today, a wide-spread intrusion from the media all help to shape who we are which may be affirming or hurtful. It can take years, if at all, to finally identify, and thus change the negative behaviors that have us on a perpetual cycle of failure and disappointment.

SOLUTION:
LET GOD BE TRUE AND EVERY MAN A LIAR (ROMANS 3:4 cf. 1 John 1:1-10).
By analyzing this cycle of brokenness and distorted personal truth affords one an opportunity to CHANGE, and live the life that God intended. Know the truth and the truth will make you free by understanding who you are in Christ (Gen. 1:26-31), and what God ordained for you from the foundation of the world (Psalm 139), and learn how to transform your life by allowing God to transform your self-concept (Romans 12:1-2). We must be willing to unlearn what we have thought to be true of this life. We call this conversion. Conversion by definition is a change in the nature, form, or function of something. Jesus warns, “Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3)—IF YOU CONTINUE IN MY WORD, THEN ARE YOU MY DISCIPLES INDEED: AND YOU SHALL KNOW THE TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE!
